The Elementary Prevention Coordinator will assist the Program Director in researching, planning, and implementing the community-wide prevention projects and activities focused on elementary school youth. This position is responsible for working independently with limited supervision to organize, instruct, and conduct activities for elementary school children.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Director of Prevention in managing Prevention Curriculum Specialist
- Coordinate effectively and establish relationships with school personnel and school administration to ensure effective curriculum implementation
- Plan and implement the curriculum at assigned schools
- Develop prevention-related material for school when applicable
- Manage and deliver inventory for the program to include evaluation materials
- Coordinate the grading of program evaluation materials, and data entry and prepare reports
- When applicable developing, managing and coordinating prevention-related activities and events, such as youth contests, and workshops geared toward elementary school youth
- Participate in the development of operating policies and procedures
- Develop professional relationships with the community, schools, and organizations
- Disseminate prevention material at school or/and community events as needed
- Assist Director of Prevention Services, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- To communicate effectively orally and in writing
- To be proficient with presentation tools, technology, and knowledge of standard office computer equipment and software applications
- To be flexible in adjusting work schedule to include evening and weekend hours when applicable.
- Good customer service skills.
- Excellent abilities and skills when working with youth.
- Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through a high school education
- Knowledge of and compliance with state and federal statutes, rules, and policies that affect children.
- Sound judgment, decision-making, and complex problem-solving.
- Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences and formats.
- Work independently and have good organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate both good communication and listening skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited university or college, two (2) years supervisory experience in mental health, preferred, or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a work-related field
